To provide compassionate care and support to patients, their families and the community of Venice. A volunteer, in out organization, brings a lifetime of skill sets to be applied in the furtherance of our service philosophy. It represents an oppurtunity for a volunteer to "payback" or, if you will, "pay forward" to those patients or families in the Venice community, who may be in need of the support we can provide.
Our organization began as a hospital auxillary to the Venice Hospital, in 1951 by a group of women (wives of doctors, businessmen and other prominent women) from the Venice community. It developed and expanded throughout the years as they assumed more and more functions within the hospital serving the staff and patients of the communit.
Today the HVV, as it is also known, is 600 Volunteer members strong serving 50+ services within the hospital as Greeters, Receptionists, Registrants, Escorts, Couriers, Surgery transporters, Lifeline installers, Gift Shop, Elephant Trunk Thrift Store, Patient Advocates, etc. The HVV contributes in excess of $200,000 per annum to the community in the form of Grants, Scholarships and donations. Complimentary Valet Parking for Patients and visitors, who come to the hospital or HealthPark, is one of the more visible contributions provided by the HVV.
The HVV's primary purpose is to support the Venic Regional Bayfront Health's vision to be the healthcare provider of choice. Our Volunteers provide compassionate care in over 50 departments/services throughout the Venice Regional Medical Center and HealthPark.
